=============================================================================== CINEMA CRAFT(R) HD encoder Release History Copyright (C) 2006-2008 Custom Technology Corporation. All rights reserved. =============================================================================== Ver.1.06.02.00 (Build: Sep 10 2008) [Bug fix] - When attempting to edit an existing setting for 1080/50i source, the setting was unexpectedly reset. This problem has been fixed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.06.01.00 (Build: Aug 26 2008) [Enhancement] - Supported CINEMA CRAFT (R) Video Playback Kit for BlackMagic Design (abbr. VPK). VPK is an option kit to display images on PC monitor on to external monitor through HDMI/HD SDI using BlackMagic Design card. * Please refer to hde_enhancements.txt for details. - Added VPK to Option - General * Please refer to hde_enhancements.txt for details. - Added Basic - Fast analysis mode Speeds up VBR Analysis pass by relaxing the restriction of bitrate. Internally generated AVC stream is allowed to deviate from the standard. For this reason, compressed stream file is not output. This function is used to create Video information file quickly. - Added Basic - Time code output Embeds timecode in streams. It is useful when timecode info of the source file is required for authoring. - Added Basic - Fast mode Speeds up encoding for at the cost of a slight decline of picture quality. Although the effect and the decline of picture quality depend on original source, typically 5 to 10 percent faster if the source is progressive, and 10 to 20 percent faster if the source is interlaced. Although it is possible to use existing video information file and change modes during Multipass encoding, encoding speed may be reduced in this case. So please be careful. This is separate feature from Fast analysis mode. So they can be used together. - Filter - Region It can control distortion of a spatially rectangular region. * Please refer to hde_enhancements.txt for details. - Added Shuttle playback Normally Shuttle keeps playback speed, but if operated while holding SHIFT button or by right button of the mouse, it goes to PAUSE mode when the button is released. - Dragging/dropping Time code, etc. Time code, File#, Bitrate can be dragged and dropped. Regarding Time code and File#, location and duration are distinguished. - Mouse wheel support When input focus is on numerical value fields or timecode fields, the wheel is used to increase or decrease the value. Otherwise, it moves frames back and forth. In later case, moving wheel while pressing it invokes Shuttle movement. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.05.03.00 (Build: Jul 10 2008) [Bug fix] - Version 1.05.01 and 1.05.02 might output corrupt encoding results when multiple Quantization matrices used. This problem has been fixed. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.05.02.00 (Build: Jul 7 2008) [Bug fix] - Fixed the playback speed control issues of version 1.05.01. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.05.01.00 (Build: Jun 25 2008) [Deletion] - HD DVD is not supported from 1.05. [Enhancement] - Added Filter: Quantize setting The range of the value for the setting is 0..5 for both Intra and Inter. While greater value is suited for the parts which are minute and have small amplitude, it may increase overall distortion, block distortion, and mosquito distortion. Generally, Intra value should be a bit greater than Inter value. If there is a great difference bitween the Intra value and the Inter value, distortion character for I, P, Br, B differs, which may cause flicker-like side effect. The default setting is Intra=2 and Inter=0. Version 1.04 and earlier have a character similar to Intra=1 and Inter=0. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.04.02.00 (Build: May 23 2008) [Bug fix] - Fixed the problem of the application causing abnormal termination when PAL 720x576 is encoded. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.04.01.00 (Build: Apr 8 2008) [Enhancement] - Enabled to output NTSC 720x480, PAL 720x576 frame sizes. * Please refer to hde_enhancements.txt for details. - Background color of image view window can be changed. Call it from View menu of Control window. It is useful when you want to check the black corner of SD-size images. - Displayed image can be saved as bitmap file. Call it from View menu of Control window. Displayed image is saved as a bitmap file. - Images are always saved as 1:1 size even if the image was magnified of reduced on the display. - Interlaced image is always saved in a condition of a frame. - When the screen was split, left or top image is saved. - Display settings such as contrast, brightness are reflected to the saved file. Use (As is) to ignore contrast, brightness, etc. - Displays total file size of selected entries at the bottom of Main window. - Displays Descriptions on the title bars of Basic and F.Find windows. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.03.01.00 (Build: Oct 16 2007) [Enhancement] - Encoding one stream from multiple source files. Please refer to hde_enhancements.txt for details. - Default on/off setting for file outputs. Configure it from "Option | Folder..." menu in Main window. - Segment re-encoding Please refer to hde_enhancements.txt for details. - Filter - Black Level Please refer to hde_enhancements.txt for details. - Filter - Taps number setting for linear filters Please refer to hde_enhancements.txt for details. - Added "Sub image view" "Sub image view" is a magnifying glass function in HDe. Invoke from "View" menu in Control window. While the left button of the mouse is pressed on the image, magnified image at that point is displayed in the "Sub image view". Content of display on "Sub image view" can be selected at the menu of "Sub image view". - Floating display function of Control window. Configure it from "View" menu of Control window. - Dual display of pictures When two WUXGA monitors are connected to the PC, pictures can be displayed on both monitors. The displayed pictures are the same. Configure it from "View" menu of Control window. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.02.02.00 (Build: Sep 18 2007) [Enhancement] - Added error diffusion Added "Error diffusion" function to "Filter..." settings window. 4:2:2 formatted source such as QuickTime V210 is converted to 4:2:0 by using this error diffusion method. Error diffusion method can be regarded as a kind of adaptive thresholding and adaptive dithering method. It is effective on gradation where mach bands can be seen. Especially, it is useful for computer graphics and animation. However, distortion may be increased when it is applied to natural pictures. Please make proper use of this function according to the nature of source pictures. Dithering and error diffusion have a similar effect. If you need a strong effect, you can use both at the same time. [Changes] - Changed Quantizer characteristics behavior Quantizer characteristics that can be set at "Filter..." settings window are changed. The dark side will given more priority than before when this value is greater. Therefore, picture quality may comparatively widely differ with the same setting. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.02.01.00 (Build: Aug 10 2007) [Enhancement] - Interlace support. To encode interlaced materials, select frame rate followed by 'i' (ex. 59.94i) in the "File selection" window. Note that 25p, 30p, and 29.970p materials are encoded as 50i, 59.94i, 59.94i, respectively. [Changes] - Settings of contrast and brightness for display time are changed from RGB base to Y/C base. Since RGB and Y/C have different schemes, RGB contract setting saved in old .ecl file is ignored. - Captured of edited QuickTime or AVI files may contain extra frames after out point you specified even though specified duration is properly written in the header of the source file. The previous version of HDe assumed that the last frame in the source file was out point, and set that point as initial out point. This behavior is changed: the current version calculates out point from header info. As a result, initial out point may be set to a point several frames before the last. Furthermore, there may be a fractional error (< 1 frame) between the duration written in QuickTime file header and initial out point because of the coarse granularity of frame rate. *** Please make sure you check the out point before encoding. *** ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.01.00.00 (Build: Jun 14 2007) [Bug fix] - Under certain condition (e.g., 40M bps CBR for BD), the encoded speed of 1.00 was quite slow. This problem has been fixed. [Enhancements] - .hvu and .hvl file is newly supported. .hvu and .hvl files are the standard file format for WSD/HDe of Accom. (Note: .hvd file is the standard file format for WSD/HDi of Accom. which is already supported.) The data format of .hvu and .hvl files are similar to that of .hvd, but upper part and lower part of pictures are saved as different files. - AVI files with V210 pixel format is supported. - [Effect] function are added. Forced monochromization and area-specified blanking, etc., can be used. - In HD DVD mode, initial state of 2:3 pulldown can be specified. It can be specified at [Basic] window. Though there are four setting parameters, they are interdependent. Please regard them as one parameter that can be specified in four different ways. [Changes] - The version of Video information file is updated. Please re-create Video information file from analysis pass. - 23.976 fps and 24 fps is distinguished in the new version. In version 1.00, the notation on a screen was 24 fps and output file was always 23.976 fps. This behavior has been changed. In Blu-ray mode, 23.976 fps, 24 fps files are encoded as 23.976 fps and 24 fps, respectively. In HD DVD mode, those files are encodes with 2:3 pulldown information, output files are encoded as 59.94 fields/sec. When QuickTime files or AVI files are used, frame rate information is obtained from those files. Therefore if you need encode 24 fps files as 23.976 fps, please change the frame rate setting manually. *** NOTICE *** In version 1.01, 24 fps QuickTime or AVI files are treated as 24 fps. However, please note that they are always treated as 23.976 fps when old .ecl file is used that is genereted by previous version of HDe. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ver.1.00.02.00 (Build: Apr 12 2007) - First release
